Sometimes we forget such thing

Protesters gathered in downtown Oklahoma City Thursday. They say it's not thier voices they want you to hear, but their message. They disagree with the president's decision to send more troops to Iraq. However, not all Oklahomans agree with these protesters.
Darla Shelden, who organized the protest, says, "We're calling for not only no escalation, but an end to the war."
Darla spent the afternoon preparing for the protest.
She says, "We'll have signs and we'll have petitions to sign and leaflets to hand out."
She says the demonstration will be a peaceful one. However, they hope their message will be heard loud and clear.
Shelden says, "We just want everyone to contact the leaders that we've elected and put into office to say this is not what Americans want."
But not all Oklahomans agree with this message.
Ed Leftwich says, "Our short memory has allowed us to forget that since he locked things down and took this calling seriously there has not been another terrorist act on these shores."
Leftwich is an Oklahoman who supports our troops and our president.
He says, "People need to realize what our young men are protecting us from."
But Shelden and members of the MoveOn group are hoping all our troops will be brought home immediately.
She says, "I know one person feels like they can't do anything, but it's the beginning of a spark."
A spark that Leftwich says is not the answer.
He says, "If you pull out now they're gonna come knockin, believe me."
Oklahoma Congresswoman Mary Fallin today released this statement:
"Like many Americans, I am eager to see our troops come home. For that to happen, however, we must offer the Iraqi government a hand up while it builds the capability to pursue it's own solutions to the violence that plagues it's citizens."
Protesters gathered at more than 475 places nationwide today to protest the presidents plan.
Had to get this off my chest... Okay it has to be said, should have been said sooner, there is just no way around it, the President is a nut. Now he was never the brightest turnip in the patch. Could be all the booze and drugs he inhaled when he was younger. He listens only to the "voice of God" that spoke to him about invading Iraq. His God loves lies, war, greed and torture. Put in office by his father's corporate friends, Bush couldn't even run a company his Daddy gave him. Now he is bankrupting America's standing in the world and America's finances too with the greatest U.S. deficit of all time. He started a war on lies for oil. Sadly, like so many habitual liars he can't remember his first lie so he keeps changing the reasons why we are in Iraq. He knows it is for oil but he can't remember what lie he told us last. Never mind that Iraq was not behind 9/11, or that Iraq had no WMD, after all Iraq is where the oil is. Bush invading Iraq after 9/11 is no more ridiculous than after the Japanese hit Pearl Harbor, we invaded Holland because the President at that time wanted tulips. Where is that bin Laden anyway? Sipping margarita's with his royal Saudi family that has done business with the Bush family for years? The corporate interests that put Bush in office, like Halliburton, insurance companies, oil companies, etc. must cringe all the way to the bank when Bush talks. They never know what he is going to say. Like an eager little boy wanting to play soldier with other people's lives, he has declared himself "The Decider". What is it to him for more American soldiers to die. Hey! He, his family and friends aren't going to fight. Way beneath them. Bush believes in torture and doing away with habeas corpus. He loves to spy on Americans through e-mail, wiretaps and now our first class mail. He probably spys on his wife when she is not looking. Wanna bet he has binoculars? I suspect he is a voyeur, never wanting to fight a war but loves to watch one from afar. He shuns the Constitution, Nuremburg Laws, and Bill of Rights...not to mention The Ten Commandments. No one, and I mean no one, can tell him what to do. He struts his stuff like a little rooster. His moronic facial expressions, less than inadequate speech talents, and cockiness would be funny if he wasn't destroying our great nation. So what does that say about 30% of the people who still support him? Well, you can kind of excuse the rich ones after all they are making a "killing" and getting tax breaks. The rest of his supporters......... well Forest Gump said it best, "Stupid is as Stupid does." And I bet Stupid is watching the national FOX News station and reading The Daily Oklahoman too. Can you say, brainwashed or just brain dead? |
