From my friend Rainbow on the
!!! ZIG AND ZAG'S OPEN DISCUSSION FORUM !!!
My Take on it:
Matthew 15:10-11 - Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' " “I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”
“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

As Commander-in-Chief who has also taken the oath himself to serve in the National Guard, surely he realizes that everyone who volunteers to serve their country takes an oath to protect that "just a goddamned piece of paper!" form ALL enemies foreign and DOMESTIC even with their lives.
That enemy is domestic, that enemy is our president and I've taken that oath six times. Four times Active Duty, once Reserves and the other National Guard, I don't take this lightly, and while I'm no longer under that oath, I'm still taking it seriously - I'm demanding an apology and I ask that you join me, and surely if you are a veteran you will, but if you only pay taxes you might, because this is your country, as a U.S. citizen, you're the boss, not Mr. Bush, it's time somebody tells him so.
Using tools on E-ThePeople http://www.e-thepeople.org/letter/write like I have you can send a letter to the president and your elected officials. It doesn't take much, I simply wrote:
Our soldiers take an oath to defend this "goddamned piece of paper" I took the oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic six times, it means something to me.
I'm insulted - Now I demand an apology.
I don't have to prove anything - it doesn't take a brain surgeon to determine that Mr. Bush said the wrong thing and if he wants to do the right thing, he will apologize.

Update: I found this
article by Bev Conover about the firestorm that Doug Thompson started with his quote of Mr. Bush:
"just a goddamned piece of paper." Did anybody see a firestorm? I haven't seen this as a top story anywhere. It must have happened quickly while I was sleeping.
I will agree that this is not an impeachable offense - like everyone, the president has the right to express himself, but in doing so he might uncover his true self and anger people and there are lots of other things we can impeach him on, but for this, I just want an apology.
To defend Bush we quote Teddy Roosevelt who said, "Why destroy the beauty of the act with legalities?" after he was told a military act he had proposed would be unconstitutional.
Well Bev - let me explain it to you like this, lets say you have a daughter and I tell you that your daughter is a bit promiscuous and then my neighbor shouts out, "your daughter is just a goddamn horror." Now I ask you Bev, does it all wash out the same to you? If you say yes, then just stand right over there with Mr. Bush.
Update 2: Google News now has 210 storys on this. I've gotten a reply back on this from Veterans For Peace and we'll have our first local meeting Sunday, and this will be on the agenda.
Update 3: This post has just been aproved by
Blog Explosion. I asked that this blog be approved, but I screwed up and gave them the address to this post - BUT IT GOT APPROVED. I'm not sure if I know what Blog Explosion is, in the past they have always denied my blog, but I keep trying, I don't know why, I don't even know what they are. But hey, this post is important to me, so if that means more people will see the post - GREAT!
Update 4: I've created a web page:
http://justapieceofpaper.theinsideout.us/, added the meta tags and forwarded it the search engines and friends. i also forwarded it to CBS, ABC and NBC. And you know what, I never did hear from NPR, that's odd, they have always replied to me in the past. The White House must have blasted them with anti media ray, I'll have to try them again.
Update 5: Capitol Hill Blue Defends Its article:
http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_7841.shtml Some 10 days ago, we reported that Bush, angry in a meeting where reauthorization of the Patriot Act was questioned, called the Constitution “just a goddamned piece of paper.”
I agonized for some time over whether or not to go with that story. I had it from two sources but went to a third one for additional confirmation before running it. As usual, we have been castigated far and wide for printing the story based on three unnamed sources and for refusing to release the names of those who gave us the information.
But I don’t give a damn what these naysayers claim. I believe the story is true because I trust the people who gave me the information. I also believe the actions of the President this past weekend confirm the absolute contempt he holds for the Constitution. His arrogance in a televised interview with Jim Lehrer on Public TV and his speech Saturday declaring his intention to continue using the National Security Agency to spy on Americans clearly shows that he believes that he, as President, is above the Constitution, the laws of the land, or the people he was elected to serve.
Update 6: Mr. Conyers finally updated his blog and I added a link to my new web page here: http://www.conyersblog.us/archives/00000328.htm#comments
You might want to check it out, it's happening, at least, the ball is rolling again, and I will right a piece on it.
Update 7:
THE RANT: Are we that good? Damn right we are -- 'Why is it,' the emailer who signed their name only as 'skeptical' wanted to know, 'that your story about President Bush's remarks about the Constitution has not been reported by any other news media? That convinces me that it must be untrue. Why is it that you have sources that no one else seems to have? Are you that good?'
